panLab Skills Sharing Workshop
Northern Stage - Newcastle
Wednesday 17th July
2.30pm - 5.00pm

A day of peer led learning and skills exchange for designers and technical practitioners who use QLab's professional audio features. This day-long event will create a relaxed environment for brushing up on old skills, learning new ones and sharing tips and tricks with peers. The morning will focus on developing core QLab skills and is appropriate for anyone who is new-to the software or would benefit from a refresher of best practices. In the afternoon we will be introducing panLab3 with Innovate Audio's Daniel Higgott, with an opportunity to play and try out its capabilities.

(please book for morning and afternoon session separately)

Through support from Northern Stage's technical team and CALM Theatre Sounds hire company, there will be fully licensed QLab 4 and QLab 5 machines to work with, although bringing your own Mac with QLab 4 or 5 already installed will allow you to get the most out of the sessions.

Schedule for the day:

10:00 - 10:30 Attendees arrive, grab refreshments and get their workstations set up. With welcome from ASDP and housekeeping from NS.

10:30 - 11:45 Introduction to QLab, covering best practices and common pitfalls. For those new to QLab or wanting a refresher. Demonstration led with Q&A.

11:45 - 12:30 "Build it. Break it. Fix it." Get hands on with the skills covered in the previous session, with a safe space to challenge your skills in situ. Utilising multiple cue lists and varied cue types.

14:30 - 17:00 panLab workshop with demonstration/introduction from Dan Higgott of Innovate Audio.
