The Basics - Putting it together and getting communication
Ever struggled to make your computer talk to your production hardware? Or been confused why there's an IP address and a subnet mask and they look like the same thing but don't work the same? Then come to this 2hr session on the basics of creating a Local Network with a production environment in mind. We'll cover hardware (cable & components), IP addressing, setting up wifi, and fault finding, as well as all the useful terms you need to know to be able to google the right thing in future.
After 13 years as a freelance production bod specialising in sound, Mark spent 5 years as a teaching technician at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. There he specialised in sound and production IT, and completed a PGcert in teaching in Higher Education, where he focused on online study. Moving out of London and back to sunny Scarborough he's freelancing again, this time involving teaching and repairing electronics as well as his production work.
