Join seasoned sailor Liam McDermott & new to cruising Helen Skiera as they discuss their latest project onboard virgin voyages ship Resilient Lady 


The Resilient Lady is the third of four Virgin ships to have been launched since 2021

Virgin Voyages is a new, adult only cruise line that’s leaning towards experience based entertainment offerings.

Liam is the HOD that supports the delivery of several large scale productions across multiple venues, by multiple external creative teams on multiple ships.

Helen is joining the ship as part of the creative team for 'Mind Mangler', which will be one of the shows in the main theatre space on board. 

If you’ve every thought about working on a cruise liner this talk will give you an insight into what life is like!

Liam Mc Dermott (he/him)

Sound Designer

An alumnus of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Liam has been working in the professional entertainment industry for over a decade holding both creative and technical roles and across a wide range of productions. A regular collaborator with Les Enfants Terribles among others, Liam also consults for Virgin Voyages as Resident Sound Designer.

Alice’s Adventures Underground & Adventures in Wonderland, both in London & Shanghai, The Trench (Southwark Playhouse) and The Terrible Infants (Wilton’s Music Hall) for Les Enfants Terribles, Tamburlaine (Arcola) for Yellow Earth, Raymond Briggs’ The Bear for Pins & Needles (The Albany), Crows on the Wire for Verbal Arts Northern Ireland (Touring), The Last 5 Years and The Sunshine Boys for Life In Theatre Productions (Epstein Theatre, Liverpool), and Call Mr. Robeson (Touring)

Helen Skiera (she/her)

Sound Designer

Helen works in creative sound; designing and creating live and recorded experiences. She is a musician and often works with her own music and that of others, as part of her designs.

She also teaches and leads workshops in sound: concept, design and technical skills.
